Workshops do not all keep the same hours and demonstrations are not guaranteed. Call ahead if you want to see the potter’s wheel or buy directly from the maker.
Marginea’s black pottery gets its colour from firing in an oxygen-poor atmosphere, not from glaze. Burnishing before firing creates its characteristic sheen, while the motifs remain tied to the local repertoire.
