Sucevița Monastery
A painted monastery in a mountain village with a remarkable atmosphere.
Sucevița sits in a green valley, with the monastery almost continuing the landscape. The exterior paintings bring you here, but the quiet village is what makes the visit last longer.
Make it part of a day around Marginea and the villages of Rădăuți–Putna. Leave room for details: pottery, gates, and the roads between villages belong to the same story.
The ensemble was built at the end of the 16th century by the Movilești family. Its remarkably preserved exterior paintings helped Sucevița become part of the UNESCO World Heritage list.
